Is the notion that if we believe something hard enough for long enough it WILL come true an acurate description of Biblical faith or is it just wishful thinking?

Are Christians supposed to develop some kind of voluntary spiritual selective amnesia?  Is that what God does?  Does forgiveness mean removal of the act from memory and removal of all consequenses?

Everything is caused by something and everything is the cause of something else, but does everything happen for a reason?

Is our conscience a reliable guide and a trustworthy source by which we can make our choices and decissions?  If not, what is?
