Matthew’s gospel has a very clear purpose right from the start. Matthew’s goal is to identify Jesus as the long-promised savior of the world sent by God. Unlike Luke, it is Joseph who takes center stage in this version of the narrative.

Luke’s gospel, more than any of the others, focusses on the details surrounding Jesus birth and childhood. Most of the things we associate with the Christmas story come from Luke’s account. But what is particularly interesting to note is that, aside from Jesus, Mary is the central figure of the story

Mark’s gospel dives head first into the action of the story. There is no genealogy, no nativity, no wisemen or shepherds. Just Jesus, rolling up his sleeves and getting down to the business.
