Perhaps the most ambiguous of all the Spirit’s fruit. The concept of goodness seems so nebulous and often relative to a particular situation. What does God have in mind when it comes to goodness and why is it so important to Him?

This is the least popular of all the Spirit’s fruit. Self-Control is hard and we often get frustrated at our inability to master it. However, from God’s perspective, in contrast to ours, self-control is about discipline, not deprivation.

Joy is meant to be something that supersedes our current circumstances, but many of us struggle because, although we want it, we don’t always ‘feel’ it. How does the Spirit nurture that enduring sense of joy in our hearts?

Why was the world created. Why were people created? What is our purpose in this world? What is the world’s purpose in our lives?

Why is there evil in the world? Why doesn’t God stop it? What is our responce to it?

God’s plan for fixing all that is broken in this world is Jesus. The life, death and ressurection of Jesus is the only thing that can make things right again. That is why our focus must alway come back to the events of the cross and empty tomb.

COMMUNITY: What is the purpose of the church? Why do I need to be invested in a church community? What happens when a church doesn’t church?

We are entering what is known the world round as the Christmas Season. That means a lot of different things to different people. For some it is the most wonderful time of the year. For others it is anything but. Where should our focus be fixed this holiday season?

The angel told Joseph that Mary’s child would be called Immanuel, which means “God with us”. A look at the Old Testament text this name is drawn out of gives us a whole new appreciation of the depth of what Immanuel really means.

What’s on your Christmas list this year? The nativity story reveals to us the incredible wonder of God’s great gift to humanity. Without question it truly is the best gift ever!
