2016 Bible Reading Challenge

You are officially invited to take on the 2016 Bible Reading Challenge. We have prepared a reading schedule that will take us through the Bible in one year. We won’t actually read every verse of every book, instead we’ve streamlined the readings a bit to cover the overarching storyline of the Bible.

All you have to do is get a schedule and read one chapter a day. To help you stay on track we’ve only scheduled 5 readings per week, so if you miss a day, you should have ample opportunity to catch up. Naturally some chapters are a little longer and others are shorter, but it should all even out over the long run.

If you decide to take the Bible Reading Challenge please let Mike Parker know ( ). To make it more interesting, we will take the names of everyone participating and put them on a couple different teams.

Each week Mike will check in with you to see how you are keeping up with your readings. Your team will earn 1 point for each of the 5 assigned chapters you actually read that week.
This is partly because competition makes it more interesting for some people, but more importantly because we know what many of us often tend to do with these things: read sporadically through the year and then binge read half the list in the final week. Part of the value of this challenge is developing a habit of spending significant time God’s word every day.

There will be (yet to be disclosed) prizes at the end of the year for:
o The team with the most points
o Individuals with the most points
o Individuals who manage to complete all 5 chapter in each of the 52 weeks
